How we plan, deliver, and document roofing works for homes and businesses across Greater London. This page outlines our methods, materials, safety practices, payment terms, cancellations, weather delays, workmanship assurances, access requirements, and documentation routines.
Every job begins with a roof survey, photographs, and moisture checks where practical. We define inclusions, exclusions, and interfaces with other trades in writing. For new roofs, we confirm tie-ins to party walls, parapets, and penetrations, and we flag any asbestos risks for specialist removal.
Method statements
We prepare a simple method statement for each site covering access, material handling, hot works controls, and cleanup procedures. For larger projects we can supply RAMS on request.
Programme
Sequencing typically follows: protection of areas, safe access setup, strip-out (where applicable), substrate repairs, underlay/insulation, coverings and flashings, finishing details, testing, and sign-off. We aim to minimise exposed intervals and keep roofs weathered at the end of each day.
Safety on site
Safety is planned, not improvised. Our teams use appropriate fall protection, edge restraint, and access equipment based on height and pitch. We implement hot works permits when using torches or heat, and we maintain clear fire-watch intervals.
Scaffolding or mobile towers are specified where ladders are not sufficient for safe working.
Debris control and exclusion zones are established in pedestrian areas.
Electrical and gas services are identified; penetrations are sealed to maintain weather and fire performance.
COSHH information is available for sealants, primers, and adhesives used.
Materials and specifications
We recommend materials suitable for London’s climate and the building’s form: clay or concrete tiles, natural or fibre-cement slate, high-performance bituminous systems, and single-ply membranes where appropriate. Flashings are typically in lead, GRP, or compatible alternatives depending on detailing and planning constraints.
Compatibility
Underlays, adhesives, and sealants are selected to be compatible with the primary roof covering and substrate to reduce risk of premature failure.
Traceability
We record batch labels for membranes and provide datasheets on request. Substitutions are agreed in writing before use.
Payment terms
Our written quotation sets the price, inclusions, and provisional sums (if any). Unless otherwise stated:
Small works (typically one-day repairs): payment due on completion via bank transfer or card link.
Larger works: staged payments are requested (e.g., deposit on booking, interim at midway, balance on completion).
Invoices are due within 7 calendar days unless specified. Statutory late payment interest may apply thereafter.
Materials supplied to site remain our property until paid in full.
Cancellations and rescheduling
We understand plans change. If you need to cancel or move your booking, please notify us by email to [email protected] or by phone on +44 20 4525 8710.
No charge for cancellations made more than 3 business days before the scheduled start.
Within 3 business days, we may charge for non-refundable costs (e.g., special-order materials or scaffold cancellation fees).
Rescheduling is free subject to availability; we will offer the next suitable slot.
Weather delays
Roofing is weather-dependent. For safety and quality, we may pause work during high winds, heavy rain, or freezing conditions. We keep areas temporarily weathered using tarpaulins or underlays and will communicate revised dates promptly. Time lost to adverse weather is not a fault but we will re-sequence tasks to minimise impact.
Workmanship assurances
We stand by careful workmanship and documented processes. For most repair works we provide a reasonable defects liability period described in your quotation. For new installations, cover periods vary by system; we specify what is covered (workmanship) and what is covered by manufacturers (materials). Fair wear, storm extremes, and third‑party alterations are not included. If an issue arises within the cover period, contact us with photos and the job reference so we can inspect and remedy as appropriate.
Access requirements
Please ensure we have unobstructed access to the work areas. This may involve clearing loft spaces, providing keys or codes, and reserving street parking for scaffold lorries or deliveries. Where permits are needed, we can assist with applications or advise the client to arrange them. A safe power supply and water access should be available unless otherwise agreed.
Documentation practices
We favour transparency and traceability. Before-and-after photos, material datasheets, and test results (where relevant) are retained with your job file. We provide maintenance advice and note any future risks we observe, such as ageing adjacent elements beyond our scope. For insurance or planning needs, we can issue confirmation letters detailing works performed and materials used.
Boundaries and exclusions
To keep expectations clear, the following are typically excluded unless expressly listed in your quotation:
Decorations or redecoration of internal surfaces affected by prior leaks, unless specified.
Asbestos surveying, testing, or removal (specialist contractors required).
Hidden structural defects not visible during survey (rotten timbers uncovered mid‑works will be quoted separately).
Electrical, satellite, or solar PV disconnections/reconnections unless noted.
Non-standard colour matching to aged materials; reasonable blends are aimed for.
Unblocking of below-ground drainage beyond basic gutter/downpipe checks.
Pest removal (birds, wasps, rodents) requiring specialist services.
Damage caused by extreme weather events beyond design limits.
Third-party warranty or certification costs unless stated.
Access equipment beyond that specified (e.g., cranes) unless later required.
We aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly. If something is not right, please follow the steps below so we can investigate and respond efficiently.
